This book brings us on a journey into the lives of four major individuals ( Lade, Moni, David and Edward) and how their lives intersect. With every turning page, we see their struggle with past trauma, broken relationships with their parents, rejection, thriving for growth and most importantly, the burden of understanding the purpose of their existence. What did God’s plan for their life mean?
This book reinforces the already established truth that “God speaks volumes, his plans for those who love him and are surrendered to him will come to fruition.” In the end, they see that God is a good Father, a responsible Father that takes care of His business. He provides, He instructs, He guides, He loves and He completes. This book is an adventure on how the characters reach their understanding of completeness in Christ.
My favourite character in this book is Terrence. Shocking right? He may not be one of the main characters but he stole my heart from the initial moment I read about him. He is that christian brother that is artistic, sings horribly but sings anyway and can give compliments that you will remember forever. You can’t judge me for this one lol :p
Aside from Terrence, I loved every character in this book simply because I could not help but imagine them act out every scene in my head. They all felt real to me, every anger, thought, sarcasm, joke and even sad emotion . I would literally feel as though it happened to close friends of mine. Goodness Adegbola, the author, did an amazing job of portraying the character and their experiences as real and relatable.
Like every Christian story, I knew the book would end well. In the end, Jesus wins right? Yes. And so I just fastened my belt to uncover the journey to this perfect ending. I never expected some things that happened, like the characters that ended up together. The pairing had me screaming at the top of my lungs. Hmmm, I love love, I mean who doesn’t?
My favourite part of this book was when David left prison and went to meet Lade and Moni at their place. I really enjoyed this part because I could totally relate to David‘s freedom which depicts every believer’s freedom from sin. It signifies our brand new identity in Christ and our zeal to start living in this freedom to serve others. Hallelujah somebody!!!!!!
‘Complete’ made me laugh a whole lot, I mean laughter that would have me talking to myself about how silly the characters were. I also felt sad when a character did not act as I expected. Needless to say, I enjoyed every part of this book, every page even if it took me six moths to complete (pun intended ;p).
I recommend this book to everyone; believers and most especially unbelievers, adults, youths, children. I expressed my concern to a friend on how there’s not a lot of Christian literature like this. Nevertheless I am super grateful that, in desperate times like these, God still speaks through literature. I am excited for what God is set to do with literature in the next season of
the author‘s life.
HAPPY NEW YEAR. Cheers to more book reviews in 2022 and beyond.
